Portsmouth Joggers Club Health & Safety Policy

Portsmouth Joggers Club acknowledges that whilst there is no specific legislation to require it to protect the health and safety of its members; morally, it wishes to ensure that:

  1. All activities run or organised by the club
  2. Any equipment owned by the club
  3.  Facilities provided by the club that come under its control

are inherently safe, and as free of risk as is reasonably practicable.

In order to achieve its aim the club will:

  1. Provide health and safety information to its members by way of its web site www.pjc.org.uk (or by hard copy as requested) to allow members to make informed decisions about how best to manage their own health and safety when participating in running activities.
  2. Ensure that all "named" club coaches are appropriately trained and competent to provide advice and guidance to members; and are covered by suitable insurance whilst in pursuance of their duties.
  3. Ensure that all races organised by the club are subject to a formal documented risk assessment and the production of an event health and safety plan.
  4. Review and update the health and safety and associated guidance as appropriate to ensure that it reflect the values of the club, and continues to provide appropriate risk based guidance.
