The Portsmouth Joggers Summer Cross Country Race (SXC) is one of the club’s annual events, held in the beautiful surroundings of Queen Elizabeth Country Park.
Following feedback from this years runners and discussion by the Committee, we’re delighted to confirm that SXC will return in 2027, with a new Race Director team taking the event forward.
SXC is a challenging but hugely enjoyable 5-mile hilly cross-country route – definitely not for the faint-hearted, but always a great evening of running, encouragement and club spirit.
In the weeks leading up to the race, we usually hold several course familiarisation and training sessions. These are open to everyone, with options for runners as well as walkers/jeffers, giving you the opportunity to get to know the course before race night – with the traditional sweeties waiting at the finish!
Race night itself is as much about the social side as the running, with refreshments available afterwards and plenty of opportunity to catch up with friends and fellow runners.
Importantly, 50% of the profits from the race are donated to a local charity each year, so taking part also helps us support our local community.
More information about SXC 2027, including the new Race Director team, training sessions and race details, will be shared in due course.
